And here is Paige after her bath trying to eat her foot that is not in a cast

The hardest part about finding out that Paige needed to have a 2nd surgery and would need to be back in a cast for 6 weeks was that I was afraid she was going to have to go back to sponge baths for 6 weeks. She really loves her real baths and I would have been sad if they were taken away from her. She is also obsessed with jumping in her bounceroo every night and I was afraid she would not be able to do that with a cast either. She did both tonight so I am so happy right now. We got a waterproof cast cover and it worked great.

Paige went to daycare today. Rich dropped her off and put her on the playmat. He went to put her bottles in the fridge and came back to tell her goodbye and here are the 2 pictures.

Paige had her 2nd surgery yesterday to cut her right heel cord one more time. Everything went great. We were home within a few hours and she is such a trooper she did not even need any tylenol. She will wear a cast again on her right leg for 6 weeks and wear a brace on her left foot. We pick up the brace this Friday. Rich got her a purple brace with butterflies on it so it will match her big huge purple cast.

Paige is having surgery again, they need to cut her heel cord on the right foot one more time. We think the surgery will be this Tuesday. She will be back in a right leg cast for 4 weeks after the surgery and she will wear a brace on her left leg. It really stinks that she has to be in a cast for her first Christmas but there's nothing we can do about it so I just have to stay strong for her and hopefully we will be done with this nightmare one day.

First day at daycare

Paige had her first day at daycare today. She only went for half a day today and tomorrow will be the same. Then Wednesday she will begin going full time. We wanted to break her in slowly the first couple of days. Today she did great. We got a first day of school note that said "Paige is a sweet, content baby. Adapted well to her new environment. Bright and talkative-smiles." I posted a picture of her and Rich before they left this morning.

Rich's birthday present

I gave Rich his birthday present a week early. I wanted to get something nice but at the same time not spend alot of money since he has season tickets to the Bucs for the next 10 years. So that is pretty much his birthday and anniversary gift every year for the next 10 years, but I still wanted to get him something small. I got him a 16 x 20 picture of him and Paige. Here it is hanging on the wall.

Update to surgery

I just want to thank everyone for the prayers and words of encouragment. They really helped me stay calm so I could be strong for Paige. She did great and they discharged us yesterday at 4PM. She had some narcotics for pain so they had to watch her for 4 hours after the surgery. They could not send her home with any narcotics because 2 month olds are required to be monitored in a hospital so they had us give her tylenol every 4 hours and told us to bring her back to be admitted if it did not control the pain enough. A couple of times last night I thought about bringing her back because she would start to cry and I could tell she was in pain but we just comforted her until she able to have her next tylenol dose and then she would do much better. Today she is 100% back to my happy little baby. She's been smiling and cooing all morning and I can tell she is no longer in any pain. I am so relieved it is over and that everything went well.

2 months old

Paige turned 2 months old yesterday. She is turning into a little ham. As you can see from her one month photo to her 2 month photo she now loves having her picture taken. She is definitely a Leo.

Lots of updates

So Paige is 2 months old today. She had her first set of vaccinations this morning. 3 shots and 1 oral vaccine. She did not like getting poked in the leg at all, but I think it hurt me more than it hurt her. After that appointment she went and got fitted for her shoes and bar brace. She is wearing it now and hates it so far. The bar keeps her feet turned out at a 60 degree angle. This Thursday she will have surgery to have her heel cords cut and then she will be back in leg casts for 4 weeks. After the 4 weeks she goes back into the shoes and bar brace 24/7 for about 6 months and then she will only need to wear it to bed until about 18-20 months of age so I hope she starts liking it soon. On a brighter note this past weekend Paige went swimming for the first time. She also got her first halloween costume, she is going to be princess Leia. She also met her new best friend Lila, Scott and Verla's newborn daughter who is absolutely beautiful and has the cutest full head of jet black hair.

Paige has new casts

As most of you know Paige was born with club feet. We took her to an orthepedic surgeon when she was 3 days old to get her first set of casts. Rich and I were not crazy about the Dr. but we figured we were just overwhelmed so we let him put her in casts. The next week we went back to him to get her 2nd set of casts put on and once again there was something about him that we did not like. So today we decided to get a 2nd opinion and we are so glad we did.

The new Dr. was so much better, she could not believe the other Dr. put hard plaster casts on Paige. She uses soft casting and said she hasn't used plaster in 20 years. She also said once we are finished with the 6 sets of casts that Paige will probably only need to wear the shoe braces 23 hours a day for 4-6 months and then she can just wear them for naps and bedtime until she is about 2 years old. The other Dr. wanted her in them full time until 11 months and then at bedtime until 3 years old. I am so glad we went to the new surgeon, the casts she has on now are so much lighter and smaller. Also each week I get to take off her casts at home before our appt each week, that way I can bathe her and then bring her in and they will put the new casts on each week. No more sawing off the casts at the old Dr, yippie. I posted pics of the old hard, heavy plaster casts that had to be cut off with a saw each week and her new lightweight, soft casts that we take off at home each week. I am so glad Rich and I listened to our instincts and seeked out a second opinion because this new Dr. is a god send.
