Dear Paige,
I can’t believe it’s been a year already since you were born. The first year of your life has been filled with lots of worry, club feet, surgeries, diapers, feedings, & too little sleep. But it’s also been filled with surprises and wonders I never imagined. As you’ve grown and began to notice the world around you, I have viewed things all over again with fresh eyes. The simplest things become pleasures, because they bring joy to you. Your first smile, first laugh, first splash in the bath tub, first time eating solids, first time you sat up and then crawled and then stood up. Your first screech, first time saying ba ba, then ma ma, then da da, each and every first has melted my heart. Seeing your personality develop has been so much fun. Even at 2 months old it had already started shining through. At 2 months you started smiling and never stopped, Grandma and Grandpa even joke and call you an alien because you smile all the time. It’s already clear that you have an easy going, happy personality and you love to have fun. Even though you wore leg casts for the first few months of your life, and had 2 foot surgeries, then had to wear a brace and Dennis Brown bar shoes 22 hours a day, you never once fussed over it. The ladies at daycare would even use you as an example, they would tell the other babies to stop fussing, they would say “Paige has everything to fuss about but never does”. Then when you switched rooms in daycare and then switched daycares you adjusted so quickly each time and it was easy to see that you are already such a strong and independent little person. This past year has been an adventure that I will never forget. It has been filled with smiles and laughter as well as tears and challenges. I made it through the challenging times with love, patience, and the guessing game. I didn’t always guess right on the first try but I always tried my best to make you as happy as can be. And I promise to always do my best when it comes to you. I am so blessed to have you and I thank God at least 20 times a day for you. I also promise to never take things for granted and I will always value the wonderful experiences becoming a mother has given me.
Love Mommy
